Elena & Irene
Wedding in Florence
This is a project that I care a lot about. I chose this wedding for the ANFM album of the year 2017 competition, for many reasons: the link with the brides Elena and Irene, the background of Florence, and above all because in some way this day has changed my life.
A special thanks to Serena Fineschi who made what I had in my mind possible.
Thanks to all the people who made me cry, during the marriage for the emotions they gave me.

Last year, on September 10th, I was driving to San Galgano in Tenuta di Papena, a small town in the outskirts of Siena which I particularly love and which was the place of a very special wedding.
I was so much looking forward to that day and really excited for a wedding which meant a lot to me; my first Same Sex Photographer! I was thrilled at the idea of being their photographer.
Such an emotion when I was finally introduced to the brides! The two women came from a small town by the sea in Scotland and they were so different !
Laura full of tattoos all over her arms and very shy while Melanie was cheerful and very self-confident. They were the image of happiness…
While friends and relatives were helping with the preparations, the girls shared with me their emotions before the ceremony got started. Two brides, two bouquets, two pair of heel shoes.
Under the late summer sun of the beautiful Tuscan countryside, when the guests were sitting on bales of hay, the celebration started.
The hills in the background framed the two brides while exchanging their marriage vows and their love for each other.
I felt honored I was there immortalizing such a precious moment and all in the sudden I realized that something had finally changed in Italy as well thanks to a law which legitimizes Love in all its shades.
After the last dances, it was time for me to say good bye.
I hugged “my” two brides with the heart full of joy and excitement.
I went back home where my partner and my family was waiting for me …. I looked at them and thought…. “I hope that one day I will personally experience a day like this”
And now I am looking forward to it.
I feel that it will be soon… !
